Banquet Atelier & Workshop is a Vancouver-based studio, creating inspired learning everywhere through art kits for families to make together, prints celebrating the natural world, wooden mobiles and other flights of fancy. We are currently obsessing over handmade quilts, making blood orange marmalade, Eastern European folk costumes, Maira Kalman, the boreal forest, homing salamanders, and growing succulents. But that’s just this week.
The giveaway we are offering is for our latest print:
SOME FLORA AND FAUNA OF THE BOREAL FOREST
A stretch of woods running through most of Canada, Russia, and Scandinavia and covering over 12 million square kilometres, the largely coniferous boreal stretches south from the edge of the arctic circle, and ends at winters snowy edge. Did you know that Violets contains the chemical ionine and the power to short circuit our sense of smell? That the leaves of Pyrola elliptica were once commonly applied to bruises, hence the common name Shinleaf, as in shin-plaster? Did you know that the Pileated Woodpecker (Ceophloeus pileatus) mates for life? These are just some of the fun facts assembled beneath this graphic interpretation of the Boreal Forest.
To enter, just leave a comment in this post. The winner will be chosen by a random number service and announced Wednesday, December 15.
Thanks for playing, and good luck!
