About a year ago I decided to start running. I was 41 and had never ran before in my life. Have always thought it was nothing for me. But then I bought a pulse watch and a Spotify Premium account and suddenly I found it fun, and nice. I’m not a competitive person, but to compete against myself, to strive to do better has always been a driving force. My goal with the running was to be able to run a Swedish mile (10 kilometer) under an hour’s time, within a year. And now I’ve made it :) It was not easy. But rather fun. Ha.

On monday I’m starting a new project, if I’m able to continue it for more than a week I’ll tell you about it. I’m determent and looking forward to it so hopefully it will work out. Today I’m celebrating with Kiwi chocolate ice-cream and chocolate walnuts. Melt dark chocolate, dip the peeled kiwi (put it on a stick) and freeze it for about an hour. Good!

congratulations. I am trying to get back into running for ages, years and years and years. at the moment I’m doing yoga regularly, also something I hadn’t managed before. I hope I stick with it, and I hope it motivates me enough to get back into running :)
Yoga is great. Took a hot yoga class yesterday, gosh it was tough!
“…if I continue it for more than a week I’ll tell you about it.” ha! i think i can relate to the feeling behind that statement. hope you continue because now i’m curious to hear about it! congratulations on meeting your goal–what a feat!
Nothing is so triggered as to achieve goals. I’m determined now, indeed.
Congratulations! The ice-cream is well deserved ;-)
god your words touch me so much right now.
Thanks ladies!
It’s funny because I’ve bought today my first running shoes. I hope I’ll have good time like you !
What a great idea, with the Kiwi icecream!! Dark chocolate, love.
Congrats for reaching your goal Elisabeth. Hope to hear about your new goal (?).
i’m impressed, and inspired. thank you for the chocolate walnuts and kiwi ideas as well!
congratulations!!!
good job, you should be proud!
Now I’m curious for the next project…. Sometimes the more you do the more energy you have. I’ll try the kiwi too, my kids love them.
I’m running too, it’s just fabolous, no less. Hope to do 10 kilometers on this race in the summer: http://www.msm.no/index.php?language=en&cat=23429
congratulations! it’s definitely no easy feat. the kiwi/chocolate ice is such a great idea! will need to try that out soon. :)
Yes, yes – ofcourse you can do it because you are amazing, Elisabeth! Congrats! :D
Congratulations Elisabeth! I’ve been reading a lot about running lately and wondering if I should try it. This is very encouraging :)
What a fabulous recipe! Must try it. I hope all goes well with your project. Kx
Congrats! I’m not 40 yet, have never runned in my life, but I suppose it could happen to me anytime! :-) The kiwi looks great, thanks for the idea!

;^))
Well done Elisabeth! There’s nothing like setting a goal and then achieving it… mine would definitely NOT involve running though :) ! Looking forward to reading about the next project.
GÖTT JOBBAT!!!! bra kivitips! vad nästa mål än är: LICKA TILL!
congratulations!!
i too recently started running. i originally set 5km as my goal, but once i realised how FUN running was, i upped it to 10km.
I’m not there yet, not even half way, but if i keep at it like i have so far i know i’ll do it.
so thanks for giving me a new name for my goal: the swedish mile!
Dear Elisabeth,
I have been pushing myself walking around the park for 5 laps once every two days since last weekend and I read this post. Such a wonderfully perfect inspiring post!
Thank you so much!
Vantiani.
Nice work!! I started running last year too and I love it so much more than I would have ever imagined. Happy running!
Well done! I’ve been running for a couple of years. Like you I’m not competitive and run against myself (using nike running and my ipod). I live in an urban area so usually run on road but my favourite place to run is the beach.
Look forward to reading about your new project.
Congratulations!! That is awesome!! I’ve never run more than 35 minutes… I used to run when i was living in Australia. Your post just cheer me to start running again!! Now it could bee easer, because here in Spain the spring has begun!!
I will let you know how is my running going!!
Kisses.
Mary.
Do that Mary, keep it up :)!
Here’s to embarking on new projects and kiwi fruits dipped in chocolate.
Happy running! I have to say, am now feeling inspired to take up running or similar. A good way to clear the head whilst getting fit.
hey! i was inspired by your running post last year, tried to run once right after reading it but it was really tough – I have very low blood pressure, made one intensive training and almost passed out while still running, so i easily talked myself out of it. last week i decided i’m doing it again, only this time i’ll do it right: a combination of walking and running for a month, and after i’m sure i can do it – running for no more than 30 minutes three times a week. will see how i cope with that and if i feel okay and my blood pressure is not too low, maybe i’ll do the 10 km challenge! i now have my running shoes and am very enthusiastic.
thank you for posting! you are my inspiration.
Oh keep up the good work Sevda! A a combination of walking and running might be even better exercise that running as crazy for 10 km actually. I’ve been studying theories around running and other exercises in general lately. As I understand, if you run to hard your body can be “stressed” and might start to produce cortiosol (a steroid hormone) which not always is good. Also you shouldn’t go out to hard, to avoid injuries. It depends on what your goal with the running is of course, how you should think around it. Either way running is a joyful way to spend hours here and there.
I actually remember you posting ages ago about starting to run and back then i was impressed! Thats brilliant you have kept at it for a year and even nicer to hear how much you like it!
Would love to start running but living in Bali now the roads are too crazy to run on and the pollution i do not feel like i need extra from running! So…in saying that…i am going to look into Yoga, i have been thinking about it for too long…need to just do it!
Thanks for this inspirational post
Looking forward to seeing the new project ;)
x
Thanks for encouraging words dear Fliss. Felt great and actually hopeful to achieve this goal. Forward pushing in a positive way.
Yoga has always been a favorite form of exercise – giving in several ways. Go for Yoga Fliss :)
oh well done, lady! i am so happy for you! i too am rather new to running, only ten months or so, but i found it addicting rather quickly and kept raising my goals higher and higher every week. some time before christmas i decided i wanna go for the half-marathon so i registered for semi de paris in march, and you know what? i made it:) i am now training for my second half-marathon and it really makes me happy! maybe as a next challenge you could try a race (perhaps a 10K one to see how it goes)! it’s not really about competition but it’s an opportunity to experience this amazingly positive atmosphere of being among so many fellow runners and the euphoria after you cross the finish line:)
Wow that’s super Anja, I’m impressed. Congrats to you! Positive sphere is worth so much. Don’t know if it’s something for me though. So many people at those kind of competitions. I’m more of a loner ;) I don’t attend conserts either, for the same reason. Get a bit stressed when it’s crowdy. But you should never say never :)
