While we’re on it

THANK YOU for all kind and nice comments about Anna‘s and mine porcelain in the last post. You made us feel uplifted and strengthened in such a good way. We really needed that. It has been intense months for us (we are still not in port, but we are getting closer).

I wanted to share some thoughts with you about the porcelain. The plan was to make different designs for the porcelain parts, with different expression. But our wish was that they would “speak” with each other anyway. That the consumers can get a cup with one pattern and mix it with another, just as they wish. How do you feel about mixing, would you appreciate the freedom of choice? Or would you prefer to have the same pattern and style on the cup as on the plate? My guess is that most of you prefer to choose yourself. Or do you think it’s just confusing and disparate?

Some more glimpses of my part of the porcelain (the black bow cup above is Anna‘s design though). Oh, our Tunisian colleagues are going to the Birmingham spring fair (5–9 February, 2012) with all our Rym-designs this weekend. If you are there, be sure to visit Hall 9, Stand 9L52!

  2. Charlyn says:

Goodness, Elisabeth – I want to buy everything that you make! :S

  3. Saga says:

  4. Mixing, of course :)

  5. Laura says:

Yes, mixing is much more fun. We creative types want to play! :-) Plus, it’s an invitation to buy them all so you have the entire collection, instead of buying just one or two.

  6. It’s perfect…
    like always!!!!

  7. Åsa says:

Jag vill kunna blanda lite hur jag vill. Gillar era mönster så otroligt mycket. Superfina.

  8. I like ‘confusing and disparate’! There is nothing like mixing up! I really want to get my hands on some of these. When will they be available? Thanks for mentioning the London bit- maybe mail order sometime soon! Jo x

These are so beautiful and considered, I love the idea of matching your own items to suit your mood! I would love to have a cup of tea in one of these!

  19. Amy says:

Mix + match is excellent! Matching cups + saucers abound already in the world, so much nicer to mix. I really like the designs, great job!

  20. M. says:

Like most other people I have from time to time been stricken with a desire to make collections of things. When looking at these porcelain items a strong urge and must-have-desire fall over me. How nice wouldn’t it be with the whole collection of these wonderful cups.

  21. Kylie says:

I love the idea of mixing different patterns in the same collection. They all have the same ‘feel’ to them so they do match even if the patterns vary. I’d really like to buy some Elisabeth … unfortunately the Rym site was just a homepage with no links to buy or even show your collection! Is that just my computer or because I don’t live in Europe? Or is it the same for everyone? Hope it’s for sale soon :) Kx

    • Elisabeth says:

Dear Kyile I’m glad to hear that you like what you see! About the Rym-site it isn’t ready yet. In fact all things around this project is new born. Our hope is that things are going to be ready for sale soon though (the products will be available for the whole world). I plan to bring some of the Rym-products to my FLD shop as well. I’ll let you know when things are closing in.

  22. Andrea says:

  24. {gemmifer} says:

Mixing! So much more fun to be had. LOVE the new designs, ladies!

  25. Heather says:

I love the idea of mixing and matching, but was curious about how you would present it in shops or online- would the cup and saucer be sold separately, or would you just have a list of available cup and available saucers to choose from with one price. Probably given a choice, I wouldn’t buy a saucer, just a cup since I don’t often use saucers (although they look so cute).

    • Elisabeth says:

Heather, everthing will be sold separately. Yes the cups are very as in them self too. But in the other hand you have to eat the cake on something ;)
