Kauniste

Do you remember “Makkara Piruetti”, one of our most beloved books in the book shelf, blogged here. The illustrator, Matti Pikkujämsä has such has such a good sense for details and whole. I called for his web page, I still don’t think he have one but I did get a message about his work for Kauniste. Handprinted textiles in Finland. Great looking kitchen towels by Matti and Leena Kisonen, see more work by Leena here. These are sketches by Matti and paper cuttings by Leena, the mushroom towel by Matti. See the other towels here.

I love the mushroom print. It reminds me so much of when I was a little girl and my father would take me mushroom picking. I think I can smell the earth.

sometimes I'm a bit jealous – there is so much beautiful design in finland we don't find here in Switzerland.
and I'm glad you mentioned leena kisonen, as she made an illustration for a swiss newspaper and I already wanted to check her on the worldwideweb… so you made it easy for me to find her!
